GA4 Conversion Events Should Match Real Business Decisions

Why event volume is less important than a clear measurement model for leads, qualified actions, ecommerce steps, and campaign analysis.

GA4 Conversion Events Should Match Real Business Decisions cover

GA4 can collect a large number of events, but more events do not automatically create better analysis. A useful measurement plan starts with the questions the business needs to answer.

For a lead-generation website, I separate low-intent engagement from actual lead actions and qualified funnel steps. For ecommerce, I care about consistency across product views, cart behavior, checkout, and purchase values.

The best event model is one a marketer can explain and a developer can implement without guessing. That shared understanding is what makes the reporting useful over time.

When conversion definitions are intentional, channel and landing-page decisions become much easier to defend.
